Airplane themed 1st Birthday Party

Since J's too young to choose the theme for his 1st Birthday, we decided to go with an airplane/travel themed party! Hubby and I love travelling even before J came into our lives, and this lil guy started travelling since he was 1.5 months old...so we thought this theme would be fantastic because of his travel adventures with us.

As we did not want to spend too much money on getting party decorations, we decided to make some on our own. Also, where we currently live, party decorations (esp. airplane themed) are not readily available and shipping them in may not be a very wise choice. What I really like about diy-ing the decorations is that we could do exactly what we wanted.

Some examples of what we did for the party:

The flags in the birthday banner was cut out from a whole map, and the letterings created using powerpoint and printed on our own.

The "baggage" are simple brown lunch bags with vinyl tape (bought from papermarket) that resembles airline tags. The thank you cards are self-made.

What's an airplane themed party without an airplane?! So we got some ideas on the internet and have the pastry shop modify the wings of the airplane for us.
