For me, cultivating a love for reading is very important to me. Thus, I believe in starting the habit from a very young age. In fact, I started reading short stories to J when he was still in my womb. Each day, I would read 1-2 short stories or rhymes...And I continued to do so after he was born.
Reading is also an early way of language acquisition for babies. Through listening to parents read and the way we pronounced the words, babies will pick up the pronunciation and intonation of the words. Also, questioning will help babies to learn language structures. Having said that, reading is not the only way to acquire language, verbal communication with baby in our daily lives and playing would also be excellent ways for them to acquire a new language.
